OnePlus 13’s New Under-Display Fingerprint Scanner: All About Goodix’s Latest Tech
The new OnePlus 13 has launched with a stunning 6.82" BOE display, featuring an advanced under-display ultrasonic fingerprint scanner by Goodix.
According to a company executive, this sensor offers enhanced speed and security, leveraging an innovative architecture and wafer-level acoustic layer processing for precise fingerprint recognition.
The Goodix ultrasonic fingerprint scanner enables unlocking even with wet or dirty fingers. Goodix supplies leading brands like Samsung, Google, Xiaomi, vivo, and Oppo, and its latest sensor is featured in new releases like the Xiaomi 15 and iQOO 13, as well as flagship models like the vivo X100 Ultra, X200 Pro, and iQOO Neo9s Pro+.
Unlike optical sensors, which capture a 2D fingerprint image, the ultrasonic scanner uses sound waves to create a detailed 3D map of the fingerprint by emitting ultrasonic pulses. These pulses bounce back to capture a high-resolution, depth-based image—making it a more secure (though pricier) solution often found in flagship phones.
